Mandatory Postings

 The U.S. Department of Labor and the New York State Department of Labor have certain requirements that employers need to post for all employees to review. The following is a brief synopsis of the requirements to be posted:

FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Federal Minimum Wage
· Your Rights Under The Family Medical Leave Act
· Job Safety and Health Protection
· Equal Employment Opportunity

NEW YORK LABOR REQUIREMENTS:

· Working Hours for Minors Under 18 Years of Age
· Minimum Wage Information and Fringe Benefits and Hours
· Workers Compensation Compliance
· Discrimination and Sexual Harassment

You can contact the U.S. and New York State Departments of Labor to receive copies of the required postings. We highly recommend that these postings are not overlooked. We also recommend that careful consideration be taken to complete the fringe benefits and hours section. The information that you post will constitute the employer's policy on such issues as vacation and sick leave. The more you have in writing, the better chance of avoiding potential employee issues upon discharge.
