Re: E-filing requirements and benefits
Thank you to all of our clients and friends for continuing the confidence in our firm regarding your tax and accounting services. This was a transition year for our firm and all of you that e-filed your tax returns. Within The New York State Budget Act of 2005, Part Q required tax return preparers who prepare more than 200 original New York personal income tax returns to file all returns electronically. With all of your assistance this transition was a success.
There are several benefits to electronically filing. These benefits are in the form of time, convenience, and recordkeeping. In addition, there are benefits environmentally due to the reduction in paper usage. When filing electronically you are a registered e-filer and can log on to the IRS website at any time. Refunds are received by e-filers in about half the time as by paper filers, and even faster if direct deposit is used. E-filed returns are also automatically checked for accuracy, and if an error is detected, the preparer receives an electronic message explaining the error. The receipt of the tax returns are acknowledged electronically within 24 hours by the taxing authority, therefore no proof of mailing is required. Keypunch errors are eliminated; therefore, what is in our system is in their systems.
Thank you once again for your confidence. We look forward to another rewarding year for 2006 and would greatly appreciate any feedback that you may offer assisting us to improve. Please contact us to discuss any comments, concerns or questions you may have.
